Oberentfelden, since March 2007

In Oberentfelden, Bosnia is danced and sung.

The cultural and artistic association "Sevdah" brings together dancers of all generations. We train on Fridays at the IZBA/IGBA centre and perform at folklore festivals in Switzerland and across Europe.

Come to the Friday training Festival on 12 December

About us

Sevdah is a name that obliges.

Sevdah is a song that cannot be hurried. Our association is named after it; it was founded in March 2007 in Oberentfelden, and that is why we learn our choreography until every step sits just right.

With us, children from the age of five, secondary school students and members who have been with the association from the very beginning all dance. Costumes, steps and customs are handed down through the generations, the way our people brought them from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Preserve the past, enjoy the present and pass the heritage on to future generations.”

Kolo

We dance the original dances from the regions our members come from. Each one has its own step, its own rhythm and its own costume.

Song

Every dance comes with a song. At the festivals we organise, the traditional groups play, and the tapan drums can be heard out in the street.

Coffee

After rehearsal there is always coffee. We call the first small cup a razgovoruša, because it opens the conversation and brings people together.

Festivals

Every year in Zofingen we bring together associations from Switzerland and the neighbouring countries at the traditional folklore festival.

Trainings

On Friday evenings, in the IZBA/IGBA hall.

Rehearsal is open to all ages. Come, take a look and try a step. No previous experience is needed – all it takes is the willingness to learn.
